The 2010
NSW Club Championships
Hello
and welcome to the NSW Club Championships for 2010.
Thank
you for getting your entry in early and we know, that with points on the
line
for the all-important 2010 NSW Club Champ titles, this is an important
race for you
all and one of the best, fun weekends in our sport too.
If
this
is your first ever triathlon, welcome and we sincerely hope you have fun
on the
day and make many new friends. If it's your 100th triathlon,
congrats on going the distance so often and welcome back, but note
there's a
few things to remember, regardless of how often you compete! (Subtly
– every
triathlon is different!)
To all
those participants in between, have fun, relax and let this fun event be
just
that, as we’ve a Saturday race to enjoy, capped off by the annual Club
Presentations, a legend of an evening to be sure, and once again based
at the
Soldier’s Point Bowling Club.
You'll
meet a lot of people in this race and they, like you are here to enjoy
themselves, make friends, find training buddies; build to the longer
distances
- and generally have fun being fit, whilst doing it for, and bonding
with, their club and club mates - that's
what racing at Club Championships is all about! This is not a race for
hot tempers, race rage fuelled tantrums and doing it your own way. We're
about fun, camaraderie and a safe day on the roads and trails before
partying hard and celebrating another great season in the sport of
triathlon by recognising those clubs who've made it to the top of the
points in 2010.
We
hope
for all those competing Saturday May 1st that the day brings you a
whole lot of fun, and says you are fit, training just fine and racing
well
and gives you an even better sense of belonging to your club.
This
year we’ve some familiar faces and supporters, including Rudy and thanks
to Rudy for our naming sponsor in 2010, Compressport! Then there's
TriShave, Aqua Shop, Soldiers Point Bowling Club
and High 5, and of course our other supporters in Conti, Cafe Express,
and
others making up a solid expo on the day... so stay a while and shop for
some
bargains, whilst waiting for your club mates - the Expo is big this
year!
This
year the Club Champs has been a sell out, really early, a grand finale
to the second complete
season sell out for TriNSW events, and our team is once again race
ready, and
once again headed by Nick Munting, with Vinnie Segewick and our great
event
team, who are instrumental in making it all happen on the day!
There
are two following sections; the first covering general event information
and
the second covering an e-briefing. Please familiarise yourself with both
sections.
Specific
Club

Here’s
some info for Club Executives to

wanting to erect a club tent on the day are encouraged to do so and may

TNSW website and informing Race Director, Nick Munting by email to
nick@trinswrace.org . Vehicles bringing in club tents
may remain and
park in the venue if advised at time of booking tents, but they will
need a car
pass and must arrive prior to 8:00am and remain in the
venue until after
3:00pm.
CLUB

you
have arranged a mini bus or similar for club members; and this can
arrive

vehicle pass as above and inform the race director of details.
PRESENTATION
NIGHT BUSES: Port
Stephens Coaches, in conjunction with the Soldier’s Point Bowling Club

the

published to the website at www.trinswrace.org and we urge
participants to

POINTS
SCORE:
Points
for the 2010 Club Championship will be counted as per the eligibility
criteria
laid out in the Club Championships section of the Racing & Results
area in
the TriNSW Website at www.trinswrace.org.
An
independent tribunal of scorers drawn from a variety of clubs will check
points
for volunteers, Technical Officials and participants and the points
score
released at the end of the night at the Presentation night will be
final.
Please
note that ALL technical officials, volunteers and volunteer managers
eligible
and signed on through the TriNSW Website, MUST ALSO sign on
via the sign on
sheets at the Volunteer tent on May1st, to actually gather points
and that all eligibility is be determined by the published criteria.
Only
those club members who are also members of TriNSW/TA may gain racing
points.
There
are currently five people who have entered this event who are not listed
as TNSW / TA members and have not answered our emails questioning this
issue, and these people will not start the race. I have
endeavoured to contact them; and it's their responsibility to come
forward with membership details.
These,
and any other disputed entries (wrong TA numbers etc), will be on a “See
Ali”
notice on the notice board at registration.
DO NOT
leave your license at home and everyone – DO bring photo
ID to registration. You
have been warned, no license or ID, then no race.

rule will
be reinforced as you enter the water.
Coming

PLEASE
LISTEN to
all
instructions from the beach; which will be issued via a Public Address

Once

start of
the bike leg.
Note
that the wave starts will be displayed on the race notice board at
registration
together with information on water temperature and use, or not, of
wetsuits..
BIKE
COURSE & ROAD CLOSURE:
Please
note that under Triathlon Australian rules the cyclist
must safely affix an approved helmet before un-racking the bike and
walking/running this from Transition to the Technical Official manned
Mount
Line.
We
highly recommend those competitors who are new to cycling to
run your bike ahead of the mount line to achieve clear space in which to
begin
riding.
Note
that the BIKE OUT signs are at raised in Transition on the
side closest to the TriNSW Registration Tents. That is where you need to
go in
order to exit the transition.
THIS
IS A NON DRAFTING RACE. TOs will be on motorcycles to makes
sure racing is fair, and raced to TA rules!
Whilst
riding this three-lap of the 10kms out and back course
(30km in total) stay left in the bike lane at all times where these
exist. The
course will be checked shortly before the race and any pot holes (as
with heavy
rain in recent days these may break out) will be marked and also
mentioned in
the pre-race briefing.
NOTE
that roads on course are closed to the public, but
open to the local community, so expect cars, emergency vehicles and
buses as
these will be on the course - please note that ANY ABUSE, verbal
or physical, to local vehicles on course will result in an
unsportsmanlike charge brought against that competitor .The
Turnaround will be manned by marshals and will
this year be at the top of the hill near the Nelson Bay Road end, and
opposite
the One Mile Beach Caravan Park at the transition, and all other course
points
will be manned by traffic marshals; these marshals are to keep the
traffic away
from you; they are not race marshals to direct you. The course map will
be on
the notice board. It’s also available on the race website at www.trinswrace.org
so under TA rules, make yourself familiar with the course.
Take
care of your fellow competitors and remember, no matter much, or how
little experience you may have there will be those with more and there
will those with less! TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER - non
sportsperson like behaviour WILL NOT be tolerated at any time on course,
before or after racing.
Please
take care when riding in and out of the venue as the Hannah
Parade roadway is narrow. On returning to the transition area please
slow
before the dismount line where there will be Technical Officials. Do not
cross
this line whilst still on the bike!
THE
RUN COURSE
After
racking your bike and preparing for the run, head towards
the Run Exit on the top right (beach side) of the transition area. The
run leg
is three laps; please count them. It is relatively level to undulating
with a
wide mixture of surfaces varying from wood chip to grass, sand,
concrete, mud and
gravel.
Enjoy
your time in the finish chute and remember to remove your
timing chip, AFTER you cross the line but before heading to the recovery
station for cold drinks and fruit.
PARKING
What
Parking we have may be affected by recent wet weather. PLEASE NOTE
that there are limited parking places close
to the venue. If possible we will obtain a parking venue off Gan Gan
Road on
the Anna Bay side of the roundabout – if so watch for parking signs and
enter
from Nelson Bay Road to the south .... We ask that competitors do not
park on
the course. Refer to earlier notes on parking.... Please
look to park in
the parking in Gan Gan Road (on the Anna Bay side - immediately up the
road from the roundabout) that will hold around 200 cars... we do need a
couple of volunteers to assist in parking there...
PRIZE
WINNERS
There
are
no individual awards for this event; but we do ask the reigning club
champions to bring back the perpetual trophies for the presentation
night at
the Soldiers Point Bowling Club.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND
