2009/2010 TriathlonNSWState Junior Series - Background
The Triathlon NSW State Junior Series is a developmental & participation series of events, aimed at introducing junior triathlete into the world of open racing in a friendly and supportive environment.
The overall aim is to focus on development of the athlete rather than the outcomes. The Series enables young athletes aged 7 to 19 years (age as at 31st December 2009) to compete in a number of events staged around metropolitan and regional NSW.
The TriNSW SJS has been a successful series for many years, with races conducted in recent summers at Forster, Gunnedah, Cronulla, Newcastleand Mudgee. This year the Series is expanded from 8 races to 10, with a race in Orange for the first time.

PLEASE NOTE: All TNSW SJS enquiries in the first instance should be directed to the Host Club.
Criteria for the 2009/10 State Junior Series
-Age determination. Age is determined by the age as at 31st December 2009 for the 2009/10 series - we are adopting Australian Domestic rules (previously SJS racing was based on ITU rules).
-Final Pointscore positions will be calculated using best nine (9) race results for the season to count.
-Entry Fee per race:
- 7-11 yrs age divisions - $15 for TriNSW members; $20 for non-members
- 12-19 yrs age divisions - $25 for TriNSW members; $30 for non-members
- No late entry fee (not available on-line but at the discretion of the Host Club).
-To compete in the full series, athletes must be TriNSW Junior Members - We will accept TRYstars members in the SJS for a maximum of two races.
-All entries will be on-line via TriNSW website.
NOTE: Medals from the 2008/09 State Junior Series may be collected at Forster.

Saturday - 3rd October 2009
Forster - Forster Keys Reserve, Elizabeth Parade, end of King George Parade, Forster
Registration 9:45 am - 11:45am. First race 12 noon.
Race 3 Saturday - 24th October 2009
Gunnedah - Gunnedah Memorial Pool Complex, Anzac Parade, Gunnedah - swimming at 7:30am; Hunts Road Cycling Venue at 11:30am, Wolsley Park Running track at 3:00pm - Registration opens one hour before each event.

Race 4
Sunday - 25th October 2009 Gunnedah Junior Series Triathlon - Gunnedah Memorial Pool Complex, Anzac Parade, Gunnedah - Registration opens at 6:30am - racing commences at 9:00am.

The Registration will be from 06:00 with the first race starting at 07:00. The Bike Course is 2km per lap and the Run Course is 1 km loops. The Transition Area Closes at 6:50 for all competitors.

Race 6
Cronulla - 12th December 2009
REGISTRATION - from 3pm at Waratah Oval
RACE START - 4:30pm sharp
THE COURSE
The course for the Cronulla Tri Club round of the State Junior Series is a great venue to race Triathlons.
The course is spectator friendly and free of traffic.
Below outlines each leg of the race.
THE SWIM
At the Sutherland Aquatic Centre in a heated 50m heated outdoor pool.
All competitors must bring their run shoes to the pool for the run back to the transition area.
THE BIKE
After a short run to the transition area we head on to the Sutherland Cycle Track.
There are two circuits that we race around :-
Track 2 is a 900m flat circuit
Track 3 isa 1.5km circuit with a downhill and an uphill.
THE RUN
A 600m looped circuit with a small hill in the middle on a grass surface.
FINISH LINE AREA
The finish line area will have all the Junior athlete needs to cool down after the race.
Water, sports drink and fruit.
St. Johns Ambulance will also be in attendance.
REFRESHMENTS
The legendary Col Hood BBQ will be in full swing catering for all your needs.
